Wicks Past Players & Supporters Association

Formed in 1906 as an all-male football club, like most others of its era, Elsternwick competed for a time in the Federal Football League, without achieving premiership success, before crossing to the Metropolitan Amateur Football Association, the precursor of today’s Victorian Amateur Football Association, in 1914. The club’s endorsement of the VAFA’s ideals had, in fact, been publicly affirmed two years earlier, when it had added the word ‘amateur’ to its official name.

The Elsternwick Amateur Football Club's Past Players and Supporters Association is essential to the team's continuous success and strong sense of community. The association ensures that the rich history and traditions of the club are preserved and honored by creating a strong sense of continuity and friendship between previous and present members. It gives supporters and past players a place to stay involved, mentoring and providing current squad members with a wealth of expertise. This generational bond fosters a strong sense of devotion and pride while also improving the club's culture. Furthermore, by planning events such as the Past Players Lunch every year, the association fosters a strong network of former players, strengthening the social cohesion of the club.
